The Neuse Yacht Racing Association
NYRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the sport of sailing. Our mission is to promote and administer international, national and regional sailing events in the Neuse River and the coastal waters of Eastern North Carolina, as well as provide educational opportunities for sailors of all ages and skill levels .

The Cinco de Mayo Regatta is a one design regatta offered for multiple one design classes
the Neuse Yacht Racing Association is the organizing authority
The Regatta will be governed by the 2017-2020 Racing Rules of Sailing. All boats shall comply with N.C. Wildlife Commission and U.S. Coast Guard safety regulations.
Expected One-Design classes. (SJ21, Sunfish, FJs, Tanzers, 420s, Ensigns, etc.) will race either in Broad Creek just off Blackbeard Sailing Club, or on the Neuse River just outside the mouth of Broad Creek. Multiple races are planned.
Fleets. A minimum of three boats will constitute a Fleet. Each fleet may be broken into multiple classes, including division into spinnaker and non spinnaker classes, depending on interest and the number of entries. Divisions will be made at the sole discretion of the Principal Race Officer.
Awards. A valuable prize will be given to the winner of each Fleet, or if a fleet is divided into classes, to the winner of each Class within A Fleet. Additional awards May be given based upon boat turnout in each Fleet. A fiesta is planned as a participation prize for all racers and their guests as soon as practical after racing is completed.
Disclaimer of Liability. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta. Each participating boat shall either self insure or carry adequate third party insurance to cover their liability.
Launching: Blackbeard Sailing Club offers 2 boat ramps and a beach area for dinghy launching.
