NYRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the sport of sailing. Our mission is to promote and administer international, national and regional sailing events in the Neuse River and the coastal waters of Eastern North Carolina, as well as provide educational opportunities for sailors of all ages and skill levels .

NYRA Invitational Regatta
March 26-27, 2022

Winners of the weather shortened event who braved gusts over 30k:

Spinnaker: 1st place -Anathama – Tom McKnight

2nd place – Bad Fish – Ed Doughtey

Non Spin: 1st place – Orion – Margaret Alexander

Cruising: All boats retired; Joan Wilson skippering her boat, Lattitude Adjustment, did cross the start line

The annual awards dinner after racing was enjoyed by over 50 attendees, much thanks to Blackbeard Sailing Club for hosting and allowing for a beautiful evening!

And, while no Boat of the Year trophy was awarded this year due to event cancellation (COVID-19 was the winner), recognition went out to the following:

Sportsman of the Year – LuAnn Parrins

Race committee – Bill Jarvis, Ray Redniss, Skip Byrum, Richard Schotz, Jackie Moniak, Stephanie Davies, and the many others that volunteer time and boats throughout the year!
